FAQs

  • What's the history of Battery Park?

Once the site of the city’s first immigrant depot before Ellis Island was built, this park area has played a role in New York City history for over 200 years. Imagine the thoughts and lives of thousands of immigrants who first stepped onto American soil right here.
  • What can I see and do at Battery Park?

Guests can visit the New York Korean War Veterans Memorial. This touching memorial commemorating the Korean War was dedicated in 1991 and features a black granite obelisk, stainless steel mosaic tile and gray granite markers and paving.
